What is 3D scanning for?

The 3D scan is the fundamental data to allow us to design the orthoprosthesis object of the veterinary doctor's request. Through scanning we obtain the anatomical references of shape and size, to create a product that fits perfectly the patient being examined.

How do you 3D scan?

3D scanning is performed with our PlayTime Easy system, similar to what happens in the Human sector. The patient is held in position by the staff of the Referent Veterinary Center and performs all the necessary operations through our PlayVet Start management system.

How long does the 3D scan take?

The scan can last from 10 to 30 seconds, depending on the district under examination and patient compliance. Generally several consecutive scans are performed to obtain different angles, necessary for the clinical case in question.

The  Veterinary staff is trained to obtain the necessary data in the time possible and in the smallest possible number.

Is 3D scanning dangerous?

The 3D scanner does not emit any type of wave or radiation that is dangerous for operators, patients and owners. It is also silent and does not emit light in the visible spectrum.

Does the animal patient need to be sedated?

The patient must be awake and maintain muscle tone to get the best possible scan.

Non-cooperative patients are not ideal, not only for the scan, but also for the application and management of any heart prosthesis requested.

PlayVet does not recommend the use of sedation/anaesthesia to obtain digital images.

Who performs 3D scanning?

The 3D scan is performed by Veterinary Medical Staff trained at a PlayVet authorized scanning center.

Can I have a 3D scan done at a center and then follow the design/manufacturing process myself?

PlayVet centers provide a scanning service for patients on reference.

Are there any special conditions in which 3D scanning can/cannot proceed?

The clinical case in question is always discussed with the Referring Physician to ensure that the pathology being treated and/or the patient's nature are compatible with the production of the support.

Animals that are not used to or predisposed to handling are not ideal patients for enrollment, not only in the scanning phase, but also in the subsequent stages of the process of obtaining the custom-made orthoprosthetics.

Who verifies that the brace is correct for the clinical case?

The orthoprosthesis is designed in agreement with the referring veterinary surgeon and is applied by the latter, guaranteeing product testing.

Who design the brace?

The orthoprosthesis is generated through manufacturing algorithms starting from the 3D scan. Before proceeding with production, the product is viewed and approved by the Referring Doctor, in order to follow the precise guidelines for that given clinical case.

How is the vet involved in the process?

The vet is at the center of the process. From scanning to testing, passing through the drawing, the Referring Physician is involved in the entire process, ensuring that the product is suitable for the requirements of the clinical case.

What options are there and which ones can I choose for my pet?

The product design is agreed with the referring physician, following the specifics of the clinical case. Some options such as the color of the padding and the plastics can be customized on request, based on their availability at the production site.

What materials are used?

The materials used differ in technical capacity and are used according to the use of that particular product.

Plastic polymers of various kinds with different technical resistances are usually used, as for the human sector with PlayCast.

How much does it cost to 3D scan at a center?

How does the shipment take place?

Shipping is carried out by the DHL service and generally delivers within 24 hours of delivery to the courier.

How much is shipping?

For orthoprostheses, shipping is included in the service.

What is fitting?

By "fitting" we mean the wearing and testing of the orthoprosthesis by the referring physician, who verifies that the product is correct and complies with the specific requirements of the clinical case in question.

Who performs the fitting?

Fitting is always performed by the referring veterinary surgeon.

If something is wrong, how do you proceed?

Our products are made to measure. It may happen that some parts need to be slightly modified. The micro-modifications are possible thanks to the plasticity of the plastics.

In case of production/design errors, the product is under warranty for 6 months from delivery.

Can I avoid the fitting?

Obviously not. The Referring Physician must ensure that the product fits correctly.

Without the Fitting process the product is not under warranty.

What is follow-up?

"Follow-up" means a visit a few days after the Fitting and all subsequent periodic check-ups to verify that the product continues to give the patient the right support.

Can I avoid follow-up?

Follow-Up such as Fitting allow the referring Veterinarian to check the status of the product with respect to use by the patient.

PlayVet considers itself entitled not to provide assistance in the event of a non-periodic or in any case inadequate check-up with respect to the clinical case, in agreement with the Referring Doctor.

Something is wrong, what can be changed? Is the product under warranty?

How does the guarantee work?

The guarantee is activated automatically if the problem is certified during the Fitting or a check-up visit during the Follow-Up.
